KEENE COUNTRY CLUB

KEENE COUNTRY CLUB

The Keene Country Club is a Member-Owned private country club providing full recreational facilities to meet the needs of its members. We have a variety of membership opportunities to meet the social and recreational preferences of members and their guests.

We offer Golf, Tennis, Swimming and dining for members and their guests and a full banquet facility for catering social and business functions.

BRIEF HISTORY

In the late 1800’s the Club was located on property which is now Alumni Field on Arch Street. It was primarily a social and dining association, with limited golf. The 1913 roster lists committees for supper, golf, baseball, music, and afternoon tea.

A new Clubhouse and nine-hole golf course were constructed at the present location in 1924. In 1931 nine more holes were completed. In 1946 the organization was incorporated as Keene Country Club, Inc.

Timberview dining room was built in 1976 and the Club was open year round for the first time. Both the old clubhouse (the Ballroom) and Timberview were renovated and refurbished in 1988.

In 2000 Timberview was once again updated and renovated with the addition of a screened in porch. With this renovation, Timberview is used for dining for members. The old clubhouse (the Ballroom) is used primary for the catering of social and business functions.

A new deck facing the 18th hole was completed in the spring of 2010.  The deck provides members with outdoor dining with scenic views of the golf course and looks over both the 10th and 18th holes.

SOCIAL

We enjoy a myriad of social activities throughout the year. With golfing and tennis tournaments, nightly dining, special theme nights, many activities for children, the Club encourages the whole family to participate.

POOL

Fully reconstructed in 2005, a great place for fun in the sun. Besides offering an adult swim time and a kiddie pool area, all group swimming lesson are included at no additional charge. The Pool area is the perfect spot for dining outside.

TENNIS

The Keene Country Club provides two fine courts for use by all tennis buffs. The tennis facilities are located beside the pool area, which is convenient for players who feel the need to keep a watchful eye on their children. It also has a view of the 9th green and fairway, and offers outstanding scenery during the foliage season.

The Club has an excellent Tennis Professional to supervise, guide and teach you and your family. Group lessons are available for children of all ages throughout the summer and are included at no additional charge. There are many tournaments scheduled during the season.

GOLF

The Keene Country Club golf course was built and developed to be the finest golf course in the area. In construction, design and maintenance, we capitalize on the natural contours of the land.

The course is an 18 hole, fully watered and trapped golf course, which provides pleasures and challenges at every level of play. The front nine holes offers a rolling terrain, while the back nine are hills and dales, offering the golfer 6,121 yards of play over a pleasantly varying landscape.

Members enjoy a full golf tournament schedule including men’s and women’s twilight leagues, scotch foursomes, member/guest and many other tournaments every weekend throughout the season.

Keene Country Club also has an outstanding teaching PGA Golf Professional, along with a Pro Shop, which has a full line of goods to satisfy the members’ and guests’ needs.

Along with our charming golf course and a fine practice green, there is also a newly renovated practice range available. For the novice golfer, private lessons and clinics are offered along with beginner tournaments.
